Rally for The Cure®

Rally for the Cure Rally For The Cure® is the first and largest national golf club program for breast cancer awareness, and it has now expanded to include tennis and other events. Since its inception, the goal has been to increase breast health awareness among amateur women golfers. A small registration fee entitles each Rally participant to enter a closest-to-the-pin contest, or other type of competition, at a designated par-3 hole. Breast health awareness materials from Komen for the Cure are distributed to every entrant, as well as the symbolic pink ribbon pin — one specially designed with a golf club for Rally participants. Rally awards the winner of each competitive contest a significant golf prize. All participants receive a full-year subscription to Golf for Women magazine. Consider adding a fund raising element to this awareness campaign to benefit the Austin Affiliate and be sure to designate our Affiliate as the beneficiary of your event. The staff at Rally Headquarters will guide you, however if you need local assistance please do not hesitate to involve our staff as well. For information on this program, visit http://www.rallyforthecure.com.

Bowl for the Cure®

The goal for Bowl for the Cure® is to raise funds for Komen for the Cure while educating bowlers about breast health and regular cancer screening, treatment and support. USBC asks bowling leagues to designate one session of their choice as a Bowl for the Cure® event. Participating bowlers donate a minimum of a "penny per pin" (or more, if they wish) for their series bowled during the designated Bowl for the Cure® event.

Local bowling associations are also encouraged to team up with Komen Affiliates to conduct a Bowl for the Cure® event in their service area. For more information about Bowl for the Cure®, visit http://www.bowlforthecure.com. If you would like to plan a Bowl for the Cure event in the Greater Austin Area, please let us know, and please be sure to designate the Austin Affiliate as the beneficiary of your fundraising!

Test Drive a Ford and Raise Money for the Cure!

Earlier this year Ford announced its Advantage Plan, designed to help customers weather the challenging economic times. This past April, Ford added a charitable component to the program – The Ford Advantage Test Drive Program, benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

From April 22 to June 13, Ford will donate $20 for each Ford, Mercury or Lincoln vehicle test driven at a Ford dealership – up to $1 million. In addition, many Ford dealerships are donating an additional $20 per test drive, up to $1,000. The funds raised from our local Ford dealers in the five counties surrounding the metro area will benefit the Austin Affiliate and stay here to help our community!

Participants are asked to present a test drive certificate available for download at http://www.fordcares.com. Following the test drives, participants are asked to enter the certificate number and dealer code online at that same site to generate the donation.
