Current Grant Recipients
The Komen Austin Affiliate will provide its
largest single community investment of $1.139 million in local community
grants for our five county service area this year. In addition, more
than $450 thousand will be directed to the national Susan G. Komen for
the Cure® Award and Research Grant Program. Our 2011 Komen Austin grantees are:
- CommuniCare Health Centers- Breast Health Services provides breast health education, clinical breast exams, screening mammography, diagnostic services, and patient navigation for women and men in Hays County. $68,058
- Community Action Inc. of Hays, Caldwell, and Blanco Counties-Breast Cancer Program provides comprehensive breast cancer education, screening and diagnostics, patient navigation, case management and transportation for women in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Williamson Counties. $201,582
- El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission - Una Decision Inteligente provides access to screening mammography, diagnostic services and patient navigation for the Latino community in Travis and Williamson counties. $55,315
- H.A.N.D. (Helping the Aging, Needy and Disabled)- Help at Home provides in-home assistance including housekeeping, cooking, and personal care for women after surgery and while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment in Bastrop, Hays, Travis, Williamson Counties. $26,598
- National Center for Farmworker Health - Cultivando la Salud Breast Cancer Education Program provides a comprehensive breast cancer education and screening program for Hispanic women using a culturally appropriate educational program led by lay health promoter for women in Hays County. $96,033
- Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region - Breast Evaluation and Management of Low Risk Women Ages 18-39 provides breast cancer risk assessments, breast exams, follow-up exams, education, and referrals when needed, for low-risk women between the ages of 18-39 in Travis, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Williamson Counties. $19,369
- Samaritan Health Ministries - Breast Cancer Early Detection Services provides access to breast health education, screening and diagnostic services for low-income, uninsured & underinsured women ages 40 & over in Travis and Williamson Counties. $12,007
- Seton Family of Hospitals-Seton Cancer Care Outreach Programs provides mobile mammography, clinical breast exams, diagnostic services, and emergency financial assistance for women in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, Williamson Counties. $298,702
- The Breast Cancer Resource Centers of Texas (BCRC) - Breast Cancer Clinical Navigation for the Medically Underserved of Travis County provides patient navigation services for women receiving treatment at Seton Shivers Cancer Center at University Medical Center at Brackenridge in Austin for women in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, Williamson Counties. $42,678
- The University of Texas at Austin–School of Nursing-- Family Wellness Center’s Women’s Wellness Program provides no-cost breast cancer screening and follow-up, including diagnostic, case management and patient navigation support for low-income women ages 40 and above, as well as women under 40 who have been referred by other services providers and serves Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson Counties. $100,610
- WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing, Inc.) – True Access in Rural Areas (TARA) provides comprehensive, no-cost breast cancer treatment and patient navigation services for women in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, Williamson Counties. $218,810
