How to Fundraise

Fundraising is easy with online fundraising tools! Once you register for the Race you automatically receive your own online Participant Center. The Participant Center contains tools for tracking donations, sending emails, and most importantly editing your personal page. Your personal page is viewable by others so you can use to communicate why you are a Race participant and encourage family, friends, and others to make an online donation directly to you via your personal page.

Fundraising Steps

1. Register for the Race, set a fundraising goal (we suggest $250). Jump start your fundraising goal by making a donation when you register, and get a Self Donor badge on your Personal Page.
2. Log in to your Participant Center and edit your personal page. If you are a team captain, edit your team page as well! Explain why you are fundraising, for example in honor of a relative who is a Survivor, or in memory of someone who has passed away from breast cancer. Or simply because you want to see some of these breast cancer statistics change, especially in YOUR hometown.
3. Next encourage everyone you know to visit your personal and/or team page, read about what you are doing in the fight against breast cancer and make a donation on your behalf.
4. Remember these key talking points:

• Did you know that 75 percent net funds raised LOCALLY stays LOCALLY?  The Komen Austin Affiliate provides funding to LOCAL non-profit healthcare organizations for breast health services for the underserved men and women in Travis, Bastrop, Hays, Williamson and Caldwell Counties. The remaining 25 percent funds the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.
• If everyone raises $125 more than what they raised last year we will exceed our $1.5 million fundraising goal.
• Donations to the Komen Austin Affiliate are tax deductible to the full extent the law allows.
• Many employers will match charitable donations! Be sure to check with your company's HR department for details.

Cash/Check Donations

Cash/checks can be mailed to our office, dropped off on Race day, or turned in at the office. Regardless, a Race Donation Form must be included with any cash or check donations so we know whom to credit the donation.

Mailed in Race Donation Forms must be received by November 30, 2011 for donations to be credited toward your fundraising goal. Any forms received after that date will be counted as general Race donations.
