YOUR TEAM, YOUR IMPACT

Participating in the Susan G. Komen Austin Affiliate Race for the Cure® with a team multiplies the fun, the laughter and maybe even the tears that you share on Race Day. Rally around someone you know who was just diagnosed, someone who has fought the battle, or someone who may have lost the battle. Together, with your friends, family and co-workers, you make an even greater impact than you could alone.

Reasons to form a team:

• Teammates inspire and motivate each other before and during the race.
• A team can be a way for you to provide moral support for a friend who is a breast cancer survivor.
• Teams have their own special contests on race day.
• No extra cost to form a team, and it's simple to set up.
• Best of all, by bringing friends and family into your team, you raise more money for the Cure, and that will help us all reach our ultimate goal of eradicating breast cancer that much sooner!

NOTE: the Team Captain must register first and create the team before team members can join. A team is comprised of 2 or more individuals. Teammates can be friends, family members, co-workers, or anyone else who would like to join.

Fundraising is Easy with Online Tools!

When you register for the Race you automatically receive your own personal page. Teams receive an additional Team page, that captains can edit. The Team page is where friends and family can visit to find a team member or give a donation that supports the fundraising efforts of the entire team. To make your page more dynamic, upload a link to a video clip or activate the blog feature. All of this and more is waiting for your Team once you register for the Race! Team fundraising for the Race is easy with online tools!

BENEFITS FOR TOP FUNDRAISING TEAMS

When your team raises $3000 or more* Komen Austin Race Committee will provide you with a Komen Koach (aka Personal Race Rep).

Services from qualification date to Race Day include:

1. Registration assistance for team members
2. Single point of contact for team captain
3. By appointment packet pickup for team members
4. Personal assistance with acquiring marketing and promotional supplies to help your team fundraise

*NOTE: teams who raised $5000 or more in 2010 will qualify for a Komen Koach immediately. All teams will qualify for a Komen Koach upon reaching $3000.

Did you know?

Since 1999, the Komen Austin Affiliate has provided more than $10.5 million in funding to LOCAL community clinics, hospitals and health care organizations for breast screening, diagnosis and treatment, and research for the cures.

Seventy-five percent net funds raised LOCALLY stay LOCALLY. The Komen Austin Affiliate provides funding to LOCAL non-profit healthcare organizations for breast health services for the underserved men and women in Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson Counties. The remaining 25 percent funds the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research.
