Who are you running for? — Join in the fight against breast cancer by running a full or half marathon through Marathon for the Cure™
Rally for the Cure — Golf, tennis, dinner events and so much more...
Major step in personalized treatment — Thanks to a 2007 research grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, scientists identified a set of 50 genes that oncologists can potentially use to tailor individualized treatments for all breast cancer patients.
Thanks to donations made during the Austin Race for the Cure, and other local events throughout the year, Komen Austin is able to fund grants to local providers. These grantees provide services such as free or low-cost mammograms, transportation to appointments, and household assistance.
If you are a woman with no insurance, who is under-insured or can’t afford the co-pays of your insurance company, Komen Austin has providers that you can see to get a free or low cost mammogram, clinical exam or both. If you have found a lump and need to have a medical examination, please call. The provider will talk to you to determine if the services will be free of charge or at a very low cost. The provider you see is based on your county of residence. Also please note if you have MAP (Medical Assistance Program) coverage, you are not eligible for this program. All providers have English and Spanish speakers. If one of these centers is unable to help you, they will refer you to someone who can. Young women - if you have found a lump please see our additional list of providers.
If you are a young woman between the ages of 18 – 34, are uninsured and have found a suspicious lump in your breast, please contact the following Planned Parenthood locations for an appointment for a clinical exam. A medical professional will examine you and decide the next course of action if any are required.
